    Welcome Students and Emerging Profesionals!

    There are many opportunities to get engaged and stay informed with today’s leading health IT industry through HIMSS!

    HIMSS membership: Student pricing is only $30 annually. This includes a National membership with local Greater Kansas City HIMSS Chapter benefits. 

    Networking: The Greater Kansas City HIMSS Chapter meets regularly (usually once per month) for an education and/or social networking event. We look forward to being back in person soon; for now, our events are virtual via Zoom. Visit our Home Page, Calendar, or LinkedIn for more information.

    NEW for 2021-2022: Workforce Committee Student Ambassador

    The Greater Kansas City HIMSS Chapter is pleased to offer a new position of Student Ambassador for the 2021-2022 board year. The Student Ambassafor will serve as a liaison bewteen the chpater and their academic program to encourage student membership and attendance as well as assist the board wtih identifying opporutnities for student engagement. The Student Ambassador is a non-voting member of the board.

    Term of Office: 1 year, July 2021-July 2022. The prospective individual will submit an application following the Board Election timeline. Current Board Members will review and vote to select a maximum of 2 individuals.

    Qualifications:

    • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate academic program
    • Must have or obtain a student membership to Greater Kansas City HIMSS Chapter

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Reports to Workforce Committee Chair to assist with student engagement, planning, and communication
    • Assists other board members with projects and assignments based on need (programming, communication, advocacy, etc.)
    • Attendes monthly board meetings; contributes to discussion and provides ideas but it not a voting board member
    • Attends ad hoc meetings related to particular assignments and/or projects with other board members
    • Assists incoming Student Ambassador(s) with expectations, handoff, and transition planning

     

    Expectations:

    • Students are required to attend monthly board meetings and designated workgroup meetings; if 3 meetings are missed, students may be removed from the board as an ambassador
